Brand Finance's Global 500 2025 is here! What lessons can we take from it?
Brand Finance's Most Valuable Brands list of 2025 has arrived. And this year, we have a few surprises.
The biggest surprise is NVIDIA. The tech company appeared in the top 10 (9th place) after being out of the top 25 brands in 2024. Its rapid growth results from its strategic shifts towards AI. NVIDIA became a leading supplier of chips for AI systems. Despite the turbulence caused by Deep Seek earlier this year, it is possible to affirm that in the foreseeable future, NVIDIA will remain a top 10 contender as a reward for its pioneering efforts.
Not all brands registered growth, it was the case of Deutsche Telekom that fell from 9th in 2024 to 11th in 2025. After a record-breaking year in 2024 —marked by surging share prices and significant growth in the U.S. market, Telekom lost some of its value due to lower-than-expected earnings forecast.
Another shift in ranking came from Samsung, which has lost a position compared to their 2024 results, swapping places with Walmart.
In 2024, the South Korean company appeared in 5th place with the US retailer in 6th place.
This shift happened due to concerns over Samsung’s chip business, where it was once the undisputed leader. These concerns led to a recent stock market decline, allowing Walmart to overtake it.
One of the most talked-about brands in the top 10 remains TikTok. Despite facing a U.S. ban (and its subsequent reversal), TikTok appears unaffected and continues to hold 7th place, staying ahead of Facebook.
What’s next? Insights, predictions and lessons:
The 2025 Global 500 rankings reinforce a fundamental but often forgotten marketing principle:
Adaptation and innovation are essential for success.
All the brands at the top 10 in their ways are innovating, making considerable investments to improve their services and products, or providing conditions to affiliates to do it.
NVIDIA’s rapid rise to the top 10 proves that timing is vital for business. The company changed its strategy and embraced AI as the “next big thing.”
Walmart is another example, the retail giant has been investing in omnichannel strategies and new technologies, keeping the company ahead in a fast-paced market.
All of those efforts and risk-taking made these brands relevant to the market, raising their value and strengthening their positions with consumers
